SOME SELDOM SEE AN OPPORTUNITY UNTIL IT HAS CEASED TO BE

If visits to this site and comments therein are anything to go by, then my last post seems to have awakened and stirred some interest in the internal disciplinary procedures of the Borough Council Labour Group. As well as the published comments I have also had a fair few people (including on the group!) who have approached me and said "it's about time something was said and something was done". I have also had opposition members crowing, but that was before I reminded them that I know just as much about thier misgivings and skeletons. The Labour Party in my opinion can only benefit in the long term from being open and upfront in dealing with its issues and inaction is its only real enemy. I have also been double checking with the people involved if they are happy with the posts I have prepared ready to publish, and so the order of publication will tie in with approval given, as I have indicated these are not my opinions, they are not really my issues, they all belong to people within the Labour Party who have been affected by the actions of others and then see no action being taken and ending up feeling as if the party is more concerned with protecting itself and covering up it ills to protect its own image rather than dealing properly with complaints from its own members.

And so to be fair to all  I have posted these two short paragraphs as an update for you ( the blogs readers) and also as a last chance for exec on the Borough Labour Group to work for the good of the party rather than against it. The group exec know my email address tony.clarke@email.com and can contact me very easily, and if they contact me to inform me that any of the issues I have raised in my last post are now subject to proper investigation by the group, or want to sit down with me to discuss the matters further then I will postpone publication to allow an investigation to proceed. Either option is fine by me, I am not against anyone, I am for justice being done and trust being re-established. Without that, the only option left is for people is to feel that have got some closure from at least their problems being publicly acknowledged. Over to you.................

After those two paragraphs Tony all that is missing is a white horse, a shield of steel and a small fanfare of trumpets ....

Think you may be overegging the contributions to your last post. Just had a look and grand total of x2 close friends of yours, a Teddy McNab from the SWP and an apparent party insider. There are more views on politics in my small family semi tonight.

  2. So says Castle Ward Mafia who just happened to be passing alongside the 2,700 regular visitors to this little blog.

As to the white horse? Well I guess it is better than an old camel wearing a mask!, but unless you want to tell me something different I guess the message above may not have been aimed at you.

The words gift horse and mouth come to my mind?

I think Castle Ward Mafia and Partyinsider may be one and the same and a LibDem to boot. His/her nom de plume does not say which Party! Its obviously someone who cannot think logically as I have been accused of being a Socialist Worker reader and a Daily Mail reader by the same person! I feel his or her's( I think it is probably a her) tactics are to throw in a red herring now and again and deliberately misconstrue comments to get attention and keep the posts confrontational instead of reasoned and so I can't be bothered to give her the attention she so craves

    2. Tish ive been accused of being a Communist and Conservative on the Chronic, isnt it so pathetic that the accusers cant say it to my face, but after dropping their Party Propaganda Untruths through my door they run like the hammers, says everything about them spineless and devious cowards, just look how the LibLabCon Party is tormenting to a premature death the Disabled .

  3. Like I said before I complained about the inadequacies of a Labour councillor to Terry Wire three times and nothing happened. Now I’m hearing he seems to have a habit of not investigating his councillors. Legal & General, Enterprise, the market fountain are just a few issues he has missed to have a go at the local Tories.

2,700 regular visitors? Imagine if you could get them to vote for the Independents in Northampton. Now that would be impressive (how do you measure 2,700 visitors?)

Anon you are funny - 'he has a habit of not investigating his own councillors' - I should hope so too. If I were Leader of the Labour Group (god forbid) three approaches from (i)a dissafected former Labour MP, former Labour Cllr, former Ind Cllr (ii) someone called anon and (iii)a Daily Mail reading women (see last blog on this site comments is hardly grounds for action.

Anyway, I'll make my leave and await the comments of the the other 2,699 visitors waiting to post ....

  5. CWF Regular visitors are recorded as those who frequently access the site from the same isp. I agree it would be wonderful if they could all vote Independent, but some like you have different Political leanings. They are also dispersed over a very (very) wide area to give some headlines over 35,000 different people from the UK have visited this site more than once during its time on line and 1515 of those visit at least once a fortnight, these are predominantly from Northamptonshire and London but not exclusively. I am sure you will understand that I get regular visits from some very small hamlets, like Attenborough in Nottingham for instance! Similarly over the whole period we have attracted over 8000 visitors from the USA of which 500 log in on a regular basis, other countries in order of interest and regularity include Russia,(1200 AT 115 R) France (1100AT 64R), Canada (1100 AT 55R)Germany (1100AT 47R),Netherlands (350AT 32R), Ukraine (180AT 74R) Spain (170AT 20 R) Norway (164AT 16R) and Australia 150AT 15R) smaller numbers regularly pop in from across the globe adding the following countries to the list above Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Lebonan, Syria, Afghanistan, Luxembourg, UAE, Lithuania, Poland, Norway, South Africa, Malawi, Japan, China Mexico and Cuba

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm fascinated - do people from those countries look at the blog because their country is named in the blog or are there seriously interested in debate about the Northampton Labour Party?

Someone mentioned in a previous blog said that if 'Region' get mentioned then its an automatic ban. Mentioning Attenborough means you go to a yellow card. One more mention and that's it.

Anyway - back to the point. As a man who aspires to be a Leader and say it how it is, will you be applying to re-join Labour?

Ah but Tish you keep coming back. Please be assured I am not a Lib Dem (now that is a real insult) not a woman and certainly am not that Party Insider fellow. Tell me, following on from Tony Clarke's last posting which part of the world do you come from? Iraq? China? Semilong?

  8. CWF, The clue is in the title "A regular update on local political life and the national political scene" I think people across the world are facinated with UK politics national and local and over 8 years in Parliament I met awide range of people so for instance amongst our UK readers we have a lot of Interest from Belfast and Derry. As to your second point, as a socialist I can see a day when I could rejoin the Labour Party, but not one unwilling to deal with its internal problems, imagine if I did so tomorrow and then felt that the first thing I had to do was fight against injustice within? How long would it last and what would it achieve? I would rather use all my energy fighting the Tories, and I think they should do the same. I could join tomorrow and I am told at National level that my membership would be welcome, so any attempt by the local party or region to block it would be futile. So there is a little local difficulty for me at the minute which makes me feel unwelcome and uneasy. so staying Independent is also a real option.

    ReplyDelete
  9. You are going to have to do better than "...I am told at National level that my membership would be welcome..." - not even News International when sourcing half truth stories could get away with something like that! So far we have had three un-named Labour Cllrs, Members of the Labour County Group, local community members etc etc but never any names.

I am willing to wager a good bet (£500?) that over the next five years (lets say upto 6 Sept 2017 at least) you wont be a member of the Labour Party whether you apply or not.

    What do you think Tish?

  12. Apparently MPs are not in their offices on Friday - they head back to their constituencies. His office gave me his email so I have dropped him a line with a link to this blog. Watch this space as they say.

  13. Interesting reading all the messages above and as someone who keeps an eye on the this blog but has never before joined in. I'm a party member, can see like all political parties we have our issues but can't see how the 'debate' above does anything to support and help the people who vote year on year? I was at the launch of the campaign to get Lee Barron elected as the first Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner with Sally Keeble and Sadiq Khan MP on Saturday. It showed me our party is alive and well, members want and are making a real difference and better than ever, the room was full of young people. In the real world ladies and gents voters dont have a lot of interest in 'region' brown envelopes, rumour, innudeno and who will join or not re-join etc etc.

  14. dear God, another anonymous, this time with a Labour Party card.T
The party is 'alive and well'-I should hope so, it is after all the parliamentary opposition.
I'm also pleased that there were a lot of young people,I hope they are idealistic, angry, and looking towards a social democratic/socialist alternative to what we have at the moment.
Of course the issues of region etc are of little real significance in the scale of things, but after 40 years in the party hoping that 'it would make a real difference', you cannot begin to understand the depth of my disappointment.
nationally I see no vaunting ambition to do anything different from the coalition, only moving at a different pace, just read the piece about Blue Ed in this weeks New Statesman to gauge how far we've not travelled.
Locally I fear that the lack of ambition is stultifying. The Lib-Dems as discredited and the Tories are dithering, and the only voice the Labour Party appears to have is the former Tory leader!
The hollowing out of the Party over the past few years has resulted in a party that is only interested in promoting ambitious place men and women -who get themselves elected and do?
Why on earth are you worrying about getting a Police Commissioner elected to a non-job ? Forgive me but I thought that Lee would be doing a far better job representing his members in the battle ahead with the government.Or has he too sold that pass for the possibility of one day the green benches at Westminster.

  15. anon above (party member) its good as John says to hear that young party members are coming forward but believe me people still want to be able to trust the people they elect, more so since the expenses scandal, so stuff like this is still important and if party members do wrong then they need dealing with not having their backs covered by those who should know better. There are always victims to these wrongdoings and people who are switched off from politics nationally and locally because they no longer know who they can trust and our Cllrs and MP's are role models for our party's good or bad

God help the young people with their high ideals if they are looking to the likes of Sally Keeble to enhance their political experience. Leaving aside claims for windows, a new boiler and over £900.00 for bathroom maintenance (whatever that is) The voters rejected her as useless because she did nothing for the town, yet The Local Labour Party reselected her. Does this mean they don't care what the voters want? we are not in North Korea! The party need voters to get off their backsides and vote, they can't just give someone the job because their face fits and they suck up to the right people. Until Labour put forward decent people with high ideals they can whistle for my vote.

If you really do not know who Tom Watson is may I suggest you Google it before you admit it in a post and show yourself up as a political ignoramus (no offence)
